what is new is old again
200610241617

For half a day I had a new MacBook Pro. It took me most of that to copy my data over from my old, broken MacBook Pro to the new one. By the time I was reading my feeds on the new one, I read the announcements of the new Core 2 Duo books. Ah, well.

Still, I am very pleased by my new, old Book. I wrote some time back that I had trouble with the old one. In the end, the keyboard and trackpad stopped working and Apple, lacking replacement parts for the early models (my theory), chose to replace the complete MacBook Pro. Period.

It arrived today (3 days later) and I got hold of a firewire cable to use the built-in migration. What a nice experience! Everything was copied over and worked afterwards. Just our greenbytes X.509 root certificate was missing, which is 5 seconds to install again. Very sweet. Thanks, Apple!

Update: Not totally perfect, I had to install X11 again from the OS installation disks and also the developer tools. Well, that's Ok by me. I just mention it for completeness sake.
